Christmas Mini Blog Hop

a non profit organisation is organising a mini
Christmas Blog Hop with a technique theme

My technique is Resist Stamping
this is one of my favourite techniques of all time,
my friend Gail Kirby first showed me all those years ago in Melbourne.
Not only is it easy but so effective and gives your cards an oomph

Take a piece of white gloss card, ink up your stamp with versamark,
I used Stampin' Up's Soft Holly 112968 standard wheel,
run your heat gun over it so it is dry,
you can't skip this step or it won't be effective.

Ink up your brayer with your colour choice, I chose
Stampin' Up's Baja Breeze
run that over your gloss card as many times as you want,
the more you ink it up the clearer the embossed picture underneath becomes.

The strip of holly on the top and bottom of the card was done by
inking up the Soft Holly wheel in versamark and then inking
it right onto Baja Breeze then running it onto your cardstock,
spread some clear embossing powder over that
and use your heat gun to dry it off.

So that's two techniques I've shown you today.

Here are a few links to resist technique tutorials

A variation on resist using embossing

Card for Heroes is a non profit organisation organised by
and her merry band of helpers in the USA.
I have been known to make a production line of cards when I make a design and people
often ask me what I do with the extras, well it gives me great pleasure to use my
hobby to benefit someone else in a non monetary way.
The cards get sent to the troops in war zones and they in turn use
them to send back to their families.
I also send a hero letter in each package telling
a little about life in Australia.
You can read about what these letters and cards do for the morale of the troops at this link.

I first did this when Australian troops were sent to
Iraq and there was a news clip on
tv asking for our emails to be sent to the troops giving them much needed support to boost morale. What amazed me was that I even got a reply from the person who received my
letter saying how everyone enjoyed reading my news from home and it helped them get through each day.

That was 9 years ago and I've continued to support the troops
ever since through different organisations.

My husband was in the US Navy stationed in Hawaii.
My brother is in the Australian Army Reserves.
My cousin-in-law is serving in the Australian Navy.

I will be adding to this entry with the link before and after me as soon as I get it so you can go and enjoy this blog hop and see more technique creations on offer through this wonderful organisation.

The next stop is Darlene Armstrong's, enjoy the journey.
