USA Memorial Day May 26 2009 Blog Hop Tour

The tour has ended but the links are still up at the end of this post,
feel free to browse through them at your leisure.

I came across these websites that you may want to view
or choose not to that remind me of
Memorial Day.

(the above is very sad and made me cry the whole way through)

(the wife of a serving commander who deals with daily
living while her husband is away and makes some
awesome scrapbook layouts)

These are my cards I made in honour of
that I will be sending to a serving Hero/Heroess
somewhere in a war torn region which is sponsored by

Stamps: Circle Circus, Warm Words
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point
Paper: Night of Navy, Riding Hood Red,
Kraft, Whisper White
Accessories: Whisper White, Night of Navy
and Real Red grosgrain ribbons

I chose the Circle Circus Stampin' Up! stamp set
which is exclusive to the Australian market
This particular stamp has dots that make
up the circle.
Like the armed forces each
dot represents a person who all work
together to make it all happen.

Why am I participating in this US Memorial Day
BlogHop Tour you may ask?

My husband is a medically retired
US Navy 2nd Class Petty Officer.

I have always felt a connection to the
Men and Women from all countries who selflessly
give up their lives to help try and save our world.
They devote their lives and family
making it a better place for us to live in.

I try and contribute in any way
to make their lives, during their service, happier.
My contribution is to make a card and
enclose a letter to boost morale.
I also make extra cards so the Men and Women
of the armed forces can send
to a loved one back home.

My brother serves in the

My future cousin-in-law is also serving in the

Read all about how they feel when they receive our cards here,
as you can see they truly appreciate all our efforts.

When the Australian troops were first sent over to Iraq
I also sent letters and cards and the feedback I got
showed how much they appreciated that folks back
home cared enough about them to take the time to create
or write to them, it made their sacrifice and
commitment all the more bearable.

The card above was made for a female
and the card below is made for a male

The tour starts

12noon Saturday May 23, 2009 in US/Pacific converts to

Hi Bridget,

Very cool cards. Ever since I saw a picture of this Circle Circus set on one of your fellow Aussies blogs I've been craving it. I was so hoping it would appear in our upcoming USA new catalog. Now my hopes are dashed since you said it was Aussie specific. ARGHHHH! You guys get the really cool stamps! Oh well I guess there is always eBay Australia! At least whoever gets these cards is going to know that they too are very special and much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your time and talents so generously.

Hugs and blessings - Jean

I'm so glad I've pushed on into the evening on Monday. A birthday party (now 5 yr old grandson) occupied my day---prep, party, clean up with his Mommy and Daddy. Anyway, your blog is great, fun, attractive, etc. If I moved to Australia can I get that Australia only SU! stamp set? It's great! Lucky you. :)
