I just had to make one of Jan Farring's Mini Magazine File.
I've seen these being paraded around the web
and put it in the too hard basket because I'd never seen
a tutorial before hers.
She was so correct when she said they looked
confusing but once you've done one
they are easy peasy!!
Here's Blythe's version
I made 13 in 2 hours.
Now I had to alter mine abit because it would
not fit our card size which is slightly larger
than US size. Jan kindly gave me permission
to post up my version of the tutorial.
Ingredients: 1 of 12" x 12" textured cardstock
1 of dsp 1" x 12"
1 of dsp 1" x 5 1/2"
1 of dsp 1" x 4"
Red liner tape
Score 1 1/2"and 6 1/2"
Turn around and score 5" x 7"
Cut the 1 1/2" and 6 1/2"lines up to the 5"mark
turn cardstock and cut to the 7"line
This is what it should look like,
Score the middle piece at 2", 3 1/2", 8 1/2"and 10"
Make a pencil mark 1"up the top part
and 1 1/2"on the right side of the 7" score
Cut that triangle off
Do the same on the other side where the 5"
score is
Cut just a small piece off the middle section
...............and the other side
Make your folds with the middle piece
valley, valley and mountain fold as shown
Fold the 1 1/2"part up as in photo
Tuck the middle piece over like this
Turn around and do the other side, no tape needed for this
Flip over and lay red liner or sticky strip
tape as shown, if you don't use
the sticky strip it will pop open
believe me I was being stingy
with the first one and everything
fell apart LOL
Remove sticky strip backing and hold
the section and shown and slowly
let it stick to the smaller section
Lay it down and smooth it out
...turn over and do the other side
Stick the 5 1/2"dsp to the back of the card holder
you can be stingy here and use the snail
Take the 4"dsp and place it on the back as shown
Lastly place the 12"dsp over
Here are some of the ones I did
ok I skipped lunch to do these
it's now 2.30pm and my stomach is rumbling hee hee

Ingredients:
Stamp: Snow Swirled
Cardstock: Whisper White, Gold Metallic, Basic Black
Ink: Basic Black, Versamark
Basic Black Grosgrain ribbon
1 1/4 inch round punch
I didn't have black embossing powder
and I also dislike how it goes all over
the cardstock especially white,
so this is what I do to keep my cardstock clean.
Ink up on versamark and then basic black
this makes your dye ink a temporary
pigment ink image.
If you are doing multiple images you will have
to clean your stamp each time.
I use a dedicated versamark pad for this so
of course it isn't clean after that treatment
I had to try gold embossing and black
Testing to see what works
gold embossed disc
Testing black embossed disc
When I attach ribbons to my card I normally
put the double sided tape on the cardstock.
I always line it up using my craft mat,
more often if I dont line it up it's always
crooked, then its hard to remove the ds tape
As a rule I also adhere the ribbon to
the card if it isn't on top of a layer
then I cut it, I have cut it prior and
it has been short after I tape it down.
Not nice and too hard to fix
What a mess!!
Uh Oh I didnt even take a photo of the finished card
hahahahaha
ok it's going to appear first in the post
blogspot is weird like that

LNS Colour Challenge #42 and TSSC92 layout challenge
I'm on a roll here with challenges
see what happens when you have too much
time on your hands LOL.
First challenge is the
Stampin! Up Late Night Stampers Colour Challenge
Really Rust, Ruby Red and Old Olive
I combined it with a layout challenge
Click on any photo to get a larger view
The card fell over when I tried to photograph it
Ingredients:
Inkpads and cardstock -Really Rust, Ruby Red, Old Olive
Ribbon: Old Olive
Stamp: Snow Swirled
Ruby Red red on old olive cs
Basic black ink on Rub Red
Embossed the tree in versamark and gold ep
onto Really Rust cs
gold embossed the middle sized decor
and stamped the little decor in basic black
Sentiment was embossed in black
I had a hard time using these colours together,
I almost gave up participating in the challenge.
It didnt look right and incomplete so I
had a hard time choosing which embellishment
I persisted and voila, it all came together
I also had a hard time photographing it
so the colours would show
so I took it outside and it was blowing
and here you can see as I clicked
the card flew off, nice picture of the flower though.
I tried another combination with the colours without layers
and this is what I got.
