Thursday 10 minute card challenge

I've been following Sandi MacIver and Carole'Anne Sluchinski
blogs and they are doing a 10 minute challenge very Thursday.
Well today is Thursday in Australia and a day ahead of
both of them and they didn't start the challenge publicly yet
or invite me but I thought I'd do it anyway hee hee

I decided to take an old favourite and time how long
it took me to make, I am also making this for a swap
so why not use my time wisely and kill 2 birds with one
stamp
hee hee

My ingredients are:
Stamps: Embrace Life, En francais
(see Carole' Anne I picked a French one just for you tee hee)

Gel Pen, Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon, crimper, Stamp a majig
Cardstock: Rose Red, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
Inkpad: Rose Red

Ink up En Francais with Rose Red ink

Sorry about the dirty sheet behind

Run through crimper

Line up acetate sheet that has Embrace Life
stamped on it

Line up second image with acetate sheet

Colour flower with gel pen and ...........

............daub edge of all three card stock

Voila my 10 minute card

Here's another one I had made earlier using the
Pretties kit embellishments

Card done in 10 minutes

I even had time to make a cup of tea, well making
this card was on the spur of the moment as you
can see from my desk, I had no time to clean up
and had forgotten I put the kettle on to boil
so halfway through all this the kettle was boiling
like mad and I had to jump over to the kitchen
and brew the tea.

I did not believe that these ladies could
make a card and photo graph it in 10 mins,
well had I not done it myself I now believe its possible.

Here's another titbit
its taken me less than an hour to
make the card
photograph them, even outside,
PSP my watermark on every photo
upload and write this segment up
WOOOHOO

It's so good to not be under stress, I am taking this time before
my surgery to just play and I've created a
storm of cards,
I'll upload more cards I've made soon

Thanks Sandi and Carole'Anne

Last post for awhile

One more post before I go into hospital on Sep 17th to get my right shoulder
rotato cuff repaired and then it will be 2 months of intense
recovery to get back to semi normal again and the use of my ever
dependent right hand. I never realised how useless my left hand
was until I tried not using my right hand with it.
It's role is very much a supporting one.

I am hoping to lose some weight in the process LOL
I can't see myself biting open packets of cup a soup
or I'll be paying lots of HELP ME visits to my neighbours

This last weekend was a very sad one for me,
my neighbours in Sydney were involved in a
tragic car accident and were killed, one
instantly and one a few hours later in hospital,
they left 3 children. They were a lovely couple and will be
missed by all the neighbours.
RIP Nove and Mira

I made this card for their children
Yesterday I found out one of my neighbours' husband
passed away of cancer, he is now at peace
RIP David

The card below is a pop up card I made at MSG
thanks to the tuition of Deidre and her generosity
in sharing her templates with us.
So have a great creating time all of you out there
as soon as I recover I'll get stuck into cardmaking
and as many Christmas cards I can make
I have designs in my head and stamps to go with them
just need a pair of good hands to work with
LOL

Christmas Mini Blog Hop

a non profit organisation is organising a mini
Christmas Blog Hop with a technique theme

My technique is Resist Stamping
this is one of my favourite techniques of all time,
my friend Gail Kirby first showed me all those years ago in Melbourne.
Not only is it easy but so effective and gives your cards an oomph

Take a piece of white gloss card, ink up your stamp with versamark,
I used Stampin' Up's Soft Holly 112968 standard wheel,
run your heat gun over it so it is dry,
you can't skip this step or it won't be effective.

Ink up your brayer with your colour choice, I chose
Stampin' Up's Baja Breeze
run that over your gloss card as many times as you want,
the more you ink it up the clearer the embossed picture underneath becomes.

The strip of holly on the top and bottom of the card was done by
inking up the Soft Holly wheel in versamark and then inking
it right onto Baja Breeze then running it onto your cardstock,
spread some clear embossing powder over that
and use your heat gun to dry it off.

So that's two techniques I've shown you today.

Here are a few links to resist technique tutorials

A variation on resist using embossing

Card for Heroes is a non profit organisation organised by
and her merry band of helpers in the USA.
I have been known to make a production line of cards when I make a design and people
often ask me what I do with the extras, well it gives me great pleasure to use my
hobby to benefit someone else in a non monetary way.
The cards get sent to the troops in war zones and they in turn use
them to send back to their families.
I also send a hero letter in each package telling
a little about life in Australia.
You can read about what these letters and cards do for the morale of the troops at this link.

I first did this when Australian troops were sent to
Iraq and there was a news clip on
tv asking for our emails to be sent to the troops giving them much needed support to boost morale. What amazed me was that I even got a reply from the person who received my
letter saying how everyone enjoyed reading my news from home and it helped them get through each day.

That was 9 years ago and I've continued to support the troops
ever since through different organisations.

My husband was in the US Navy stationed in Hawaii.
My brother is in the Australian Army Reserves.
My cousin-in-law is serving in the Australian Navy.

I will be adding to this entry with the link before and after me as soon as I get it so you can go and enjoy this blog hop and see more technique creations on offer through this wonderful organisation.

The next stop is Darlene Armstrong's, enjoy the journey.
